Ive been tagged!
List 10 honest things about myself (TRUE and interesting things - not just the color of yours socks!)
ok so here goes.
1)Ive always wanted to be a nurse. My dad told me to join the Army to get all my training. So I went down and signed up. The training went well, we practiced giving shots to oranges. But when it came to sticking a needle into a real persons arm I couldn't do it. The Sargent told me to go home and have babies. He said women were only good for two things being a nurse (which I just failed at) and being a mom.(boy he would be in real trouble today if he said that to any women).
2) Ive always had to call my mom when I got upset. She was the only one who could get me settled down. Its been really hard since she passed Ive picked up the phone so many times to call her only to realise she wont be there. Now I usually call my sister or one of my girlfriends from high school to vent.
3)I love cats and have had at least one cat all my live except for one year when Mr Gab and I lived in an apartment. My first cat I got when I was two years old. I carried her home with both my hands around her neck. She didn't protest. I couldn't say cat nor kitten so her name became keeeeee, (sounds like key).
4)I also love dogs and for most of my life I have had 2 dogs. Our last dog was while we lived in SD. He was a toy poodle and something else mixed and man was he one hyper dog. We ended up taking him to the shelter, only to have one of our neighbors up the road adopt him. I really miss not having a dog but Ive been working on Mr Gab to get at least one.
4) I have a Handicapped sister. When we used to go shopping people would stop and stare or pull their kids away from us. I would lose my temper and shout at these people calling them "morons" and worse.
5)I swear like a sailor! Its a very bad habit that I picked up as a child(I started at age 10)It mostly started because of people who treated us different because of my handicapped sister. My dad has a very bad temper which I have as well. Unfortunately I didn't bother to stop it while my kids were small so they have it as well, but I have been holding it back with my grand kids. They have to do something really bad to see that temper.
6)I like to wear shorts and go barefoot all year round and have been known to go out into the snow like that. I really don't like shoes. Most woman have a closet full of shoes where I have just 3 pairs to my name. Plus 1 pair of slippers and 1 pair of boots.
7) when other girls were out flirting with boys I was taking auto mechanics in school and working on cars. I was what many called a "tomboy" I didn't notice boys until my senior year and then I just didn't give a damn! After school I went to work never really expecting to get married. I wanted to I just didn't think I would. I also told my girlfriends I was going to have 22 kids and no husband!(man am I glad that didn't come about)
8)I don't like living in this house. In fact I didn't want to buy this one but Mr Gab talked me into it. Ive always hated this house. But have made do. When we moved to SD the house we bought has some of the same characteristic's as this one.It has an open floor plan like this one, but the kitchen is bigger than this one and there is a true dining room where here there is an eat in area. The bathroom out there is bigger than this one. But there is no basement just a crawl space where here we have a full basement. Both houses are on corner lots and double lots at that. Both have 4 car garages. I guess I just wanted a house that reminded me of this one after all we have lived here for 25 years before we moved there for 5 years and then came back here. I am more at home in SD than here in MN.
9)I can drive a stick and when I get into a car with a stick I become this "woman" who thinks she is showing off. Some how when I get into that car its like no other woman but me can drive a stick. It really goes to my head. But in truth I don't really like driving a stick so I always talk Mr Gab into making sure its an automatic before we buy it.
10)I am a very friendly person who most say I'm out going. But actually I'm very shy. One of the things my material grandmother told me was talk to everyone even if you don't know them because they may be your best friend you just don't know it yet. When I worked in the nursing home I was the minority. But I talked to everyone. One guy who would never answer me but I kept talking to anyways finally turned to me one day and asked me why? I said why what? He said why are you talking to me your white I'm black. I got so mad and said what is the differences between you and me? Other than the fact that you are male? I said you eat like me, you breath like me, you talk like me, you dress like me (one leg in at a time sorta thing)and if you get cut you bleed like me. So I said what is the difference? Then I said OH OH WAIT. I held my arm next to his and said. I know whats different....You have a helluva better tan than me. He started to laugh and from that day on we were good friends.
So there ya have it. 10 true things about me that most don't know or maybe thought they did now they know for sure.

The count down is on
But here is a small but funny little tid-bit:
Youngest grandson who is just 23 months old(at the end of this month at least he will be). We have been teaching him to talk.
We tell him to say Uncle so and so. Well Now he has one great uncle named (ok sorry but I gotta use the name in order for this to work so apologies ahead of time) Chris. But little Lj wont say Chris. Every time we say Uncle Chris He says Uncle Hot dog! Every single time. Some times I will say can you say Chris? and he comes back with Hot dog. Now Lj hasn't seen Uncle Chris since he was about 6 maybe 8 months old. SO where he came up with Hot dog we aren't sure but it is funny. So here I am trying to get Lj to say Merry Christmas. Yep you got it, He says Merry Hot dog! Christmas sounds too much like Chris so to him its hot dog! LOL. He is just a total cutie.
Anyways I know your all busy and getting ready for the day, But I'd like to ask you a question. What if any traditions do you have at your home that makes Christmas special for you and yours? Now even if your single there must be some tradition that your family does every year that makes your families Christmas special. From the food you make to stories you tell to even the decorations on your tree. I would like you to share them with me. I will start the ball rolling.
Here I decorate....(over decorate Mr Gab says) Well ok maybe I do go over board a little but I love the whole Jesus born Christmas day as well as all the different ornaments I collect that make my Christmas special.
I have about 7 miniature trees. One tree has Disney Ornaments, One tree has John Deere ornaments,One tree has coke ornaments, and for heavens sakes I don't remember what all I have. But each tree has a theme. The reason I cant remember is they are still at home in SD. I haven't used those in 4 years. I also have a whole collection of Liberty Falls Buildings that I use to decorate(this year I didn't put them up because we just didn't have the room to do it) I also have some Coke Buildings that were for members only that I also use. Then of course we decorate the outside. and it seems every year I add more to what was the year before thanks to garage sales.
As for food. Well it's usually either Ham or Turkey. This year will be Turkey. My daughter will again make the Scalloped Oysters that was my moms tradition every year. I have these green dishes that I have collected over the years (they all match)
that I use to hold the olives pickles etc.(they too are in SD so I have been using some Tupperware that is meant for condiments like jelly or honey has three cups that sit in a holder that will hold all nicely).
I can compromise, when I have too but I try to stick with each thing that everyone knows that I use and look fore wards to seeing them at Christmas(and sometimes Thanksgiving)
On Christmas eve we leave the Christmas lights inside and outside on all night so "Santa" can find us.
The kids are up by about 6am and I make them wait till I can get up. Then each kid gets one present and they take turns opening theirs before they get the next gift. Then its breakfast and preparations of dinner. Of course if there are Christmas specials on TV they will be on and of course "football". These are some of my traditions that we do each and every year.
So take a minute and share yours will you?

Seeing red
Here is Lucky checking out what I'm eating. He now has a nasty little habit of trying to either get into your bowl or on your plate while your eating or actually tries to take food outta your mouth. He did that to Mr Gab the other day and bit his lip and Lucky went flying. No he wasnt hurt but he sure knew not to try that again!
Lucky sitting on my lap where its warm.
Lucky and Pumpkin both sitting on my lap. I've got a quilt on so I'm a warm spot!
Here are the two cats sleeping together on back of couch. Can you see that they are facing different directions?
Sorry about this one. There was so much sun coming in and I didnt want to lose the picture. Lucky is actually sitting on Pumpkin, and Pumpkin is letting him!

Lets start out Monday with a joke
Hope you enjoy this little joke as much as I did!
A woman walks into the Mississippi welfare office,
trailed by 15 kids.
"WOW!" the social worker exclaims. "Are
they all yours?''
"Yep, they are all mine," the flustered
momma sighs, having heard that
question a thousand times before.
She says, "Sit down Leroy." All the children
rush to find seats.
"Well," says the social worker, "then
you must be here to sign up. I'll need
allyour children's names."
"Well, to keep it simple, the boys are all named
'Leroy' and the girls are all named 'Leighroy'."
In disbelief, the case worker. "Are you serious?
They're ALL named Leroy?"
Their momma replied, "Well, yes-it makes it easier.
When it's time to get
them out of bed and ready for school, I yells,
'Leroy!' An when it's time
for dinner, I just yells 'Leroy!' an they all
comes a runnin. An' if I need
to stop the kid who's running into the street, I
just yells Leroy' and all
of them stop. It's the smartest idea I ever had,
namin' them all Leroy."
The social worker thinks this over for a bit, then
wrinkles her forehead and
says tentatively, "But what if you just want ONE
kid to come, and not the whole bunch?"
"Then I calls them by their last names."

I'm a good daughter and a stinker too.
Well, I told Mr Gab this and he's like I should see if they have any large cats to get rid of at one of these Vet's that I go to. I said yeah and find out what it cost to adopt one. Well soon Mr Gab came home one night tossed me his cell and said "look" So I went to the pictures and seen two beautiful cats one Female one male. So I said I'm going to email these to my sister C and see which one she likes. So I did. Then I talked to her the next morning and asked her which one she liked. She hadn't been online yet so while I waited for her to download the pics we talked. Then I heard Awww that one is cute. I said which one she said the Male one. SO I said well check out the female one too. So she did and again I hear awww shes cute too. And I say well which one should we get dad? And she's like I don't know why do you do this to me? And I say cause I couldn't make up my mind either.
SO I tell Mr Gab you pick and surprise us.
Well, then I get to thinking (man I gotta stop doing that) What if dad wasn't serious what if he really don't want a cat? So I call sister C and say "call dad and tell him Mr Gab has a cat that needs a home and would he like it?" So she calls dad and asks. Soon she calls me on my cell and asks "how old is this cat?" I say Oh two or three.
Dad says yeah that's ok, then he ask is it male or female? Now I laugh my you know what off. Well honest! I had no idea which one Mr Gab was picking. SO I say I don't know. Well dad says that's alright bring the cat up.
SO Mr Gab brings home the male cat last night and oh is he pretty. And this morning I drive up to dad's house and I take the cat in and now dad is in love with this cat. They usually go see my sister D on Thus. but today dad didn't want to go he claimed he wasn't up to it. I think and this is what I told sister C that he just wanted to get to know his new cat better. Well I must say I made my dad really happy. Even if I made sister C do all the dirty work of calling and checking with dad.
When I left he was pretty happy with his new friend. Funny thing.....when I was a kid growing up he "hated" cats! really!!!!
I think he like them now because he is lonely and they are what keeps him going they give him a reason to live. Either way I'm glad sister C and I decided to go ahead a get one of the cats.

And the winner is........(and other things)
I can't believe it. MN Vikings won again yesterday. And we played a great team Detroit. and I have several good friends in Michigan and all I can say is nah nah nah we beat you! LOL
Ok sorry I just had to do that because so many people think our Vikes stink. And sometimes I agree. But so far this year they are doing an amazing job.
Then last night I went to a friends church for Advent. and had a wonderful time. All except singing. I still cant. Even more so with this dang cold. They had some appetizers and cookies and candies. and I was good I had one candy and one cookie. They had some Ice Cream and I made sure the cup I had had the least amount in it so that I ended up with maybe two bites. I want to keep going on loosing this extra weight and even though I'm semi trying I hope that I can still drop it. This is of course the worst time of year to lose weight with all the Christmas candies and cookies. I even plan on making some but I also plan on watching how many I eat. (as few as possible! or none at all)
Here is what my grandkids did this weekend. We havent used tinsel in years but I thought why not(silly me forgot the kitten) So far both cats have left the tree and decorations alone. I think the grandkids did a wonderful job decorating grandma and grandpa's tree. What do you think?
And today I have a house full of sick grandkids. Two have the flu one has strep and baby is well(so far) Glad I got a flu shot!

Oh Happy Day.....
Nope
Gab is happy! Very Happy!
I went to the doctor's yesterday,my rheumatoid doctor!
The nurse tells me get on the scale..........Gab takes off her jacket puts her purse aside and gets on...............................peeks through her eyes and sees...............
"I'm not sure but I think I've lost some weight" I tell the nurse. She says yes I think so lets go see.
So we go back into the room where she takes my blood pressure, takes my pulse, and takes my tempature.
Then she brings up my last visit (to see him) and says "yes you've lost 20 lbs"
Then she counts on her fingers Oct, Nov, Dec...In two months she tells me you've lost 20 lbs. Have you been trying? (I was there on Oct 1st)
Trying, trying are you kidding me I'm at least 150 over weight of course I'm trying.
No I say, I stopped trying. When I tryed I seemed to gain more weight each time so I stopped trying.
Well, she says I guess that has worked for you great job!
I mean talk about putting me on top of the world! YES!!!!!!
Sooooo hows your week?
